Like It Was Yesterday
24 x 36 inches | Mixed Media
This piece is a tribute to everyone who has experienced the heartbreaking loss of a parent. No matter how many years pass, grief can make yesterday feel like today.
I created the woman with gray in her hair to represent the passing of time—and the truth that growing older doesn’t mean forgetting. The raised modeling paste, artificial flowers, and butterflies add texture while symbolizing memories, love, transformation, and life continuing after loss.
The handmade picture frame on the gravestone is designed so the new owner can attach and add a photograph of their own parents or loved ones, making this piece uniquely personal to their story. I used a photograph of my own parents as the inspiration for the piece.
For anyone who has lost a parent: their time here may have ended, but their love and memories never do. Sometimes, it still feels like yesterday.
